Performance and Sport Psychology is an field that focuses on the optimization of performance. Psychological skills, knowledge, and techniques are used to enhance performance and strengthen the performer.
Traditional psychotherapy has many names, including "counseling" and "therapy". No matter which name you use, it is an approach to address mental health issues and improve mental and emotional well-being and functioning. Therapy comes in many forms and in various styles.
The services I offer are a blend of both Psychotherapy and Performance and Sport Psychology. I believe that our well-being impacts our ability to perform and that our performances impact our well-being. We are not a collection of compartmentalized roles, but rather a web of interconnected experiences and identities. We perform in various roles everyday. When I think of performance, I may first think about my identity as an athlete, but I may also regularly perform as an employee, a co-worker, a parent, a partner, or any number of other roles. I can help you address the complex and interconnected aspects of your life in ways that enhance your well-being and optimize how you perform.
Individual performance consultations are designed to address specific performance concerns and goals. You will reflect on your experiences, share your goals, and explore challenges. I will support you as you learn the principles of performance enhancement and create and execute a specific plan to make meaningful changes to your experience as a performer.
Team and group performance trainings help team members explore group functioning and performance in various areas, as well as develop essential skills for success. Athletic teams, performing groups, and work-based teams can benefit from this approach. These trainings can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your team, and may be a one-time presentation or a series of trainings. Supervisors, coaches, and team leaders can contact me to determine which types of services will best meet the needs of their team.
Individual therapy addresses your experiences, concerns, and desires for change. We will work together to understand your experiences, increase your ability to assess and address your own needs, and empower you with skills to face challenges and create change. Taking care of your mental health will be key to your pursuit of success and wellness.
